Root canal treatment is done to remove bacterial infection from the roo canals in order to save the tooth from complete destruction.
Steps:
The tooth is first anesthetised, small opening is made to access the dental pulp, then the infected tissues are removed from the tooth roots, disinfected and lastly, canals are filled up with a permannet filling material (Gutta-percha). A temporary filling is placed and after about 2 weeks, permanent filling is done when crown is ready to be placed on the tooth.
